Down The Strech Photography    Hello. My name is Amber Chalfin , Welcome to Down The stretch Photography. Although I reside in Atlanta, Georgia, I grew up in Southern Ohio and have been a Thoroughbred horse racing enthusiast since I was a child. In the past five years I have started Down The Stretch Photography to capture some of the great moments in racing . I have worked races including the Breeders Cup , Triple Crown,The Florida Derby, and many other graded races. I have also been fortunate to photograph many horses after retirement , such as Cigar, Affirmed, Holy Bull, Arazi, and A.P. Indy just to name a few.   I enjoy taking photos of Thoroughbreds, catching the fire in their eyes, or their great hearts, as they surge toward the finish line on to victory. The following photographs [including the three at the top] are some samples from my portfolio. If you would like to contact me about photographing your horse or purchasing racing photographs for yourself or publication purposes, you may contact me at (770) 458-6422 or send me a E-mail using the hyper link at the bottom of this page. Illinois Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners    The Illinois Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Foundation is a Not-For-Profit service corporation, representing Illinois breeders and owners and dedicated to the growth and development of the Illinois state-bred incentive program for Thoroughbreds. The foundation was influential in the drafting and passage of the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975, which ultimately resulted in the Illinois Thoroughbred Breeders Fund Program. Since that time the I.T.B.O.F. has been involved in legislation which legalized Inter-Track Wagering, Off-Track Betting and Simulcasting. The I.T.B.O.F. was active in defeating land-based casino gambling and is working to insure that purse accounts and breeders funds will benefit, rather than suffer, from any further proliferation of gaming in the state. The I.T.B.O.F. was represented on the Governor's Task Force, which drafted and passed the racing legislation of 1995. With the assistance of the Governor's office and our legislators, the state-bred program in Illinois will continue to rank among the most lucrative in the nation, offering over $20 million annually in purses and awards to Illinois Registered Thoroughbreds.

JGV in English     JGV is short for Jägersro Galoppens Vänner. We also arrange trips to other tracks and race-meetings. And we are represented on the Jägersro Party Committee!    This Home Page is a new activity on our part and we are proud to be among the first in Scandinavia with horse racing information on the Net. We hope to be able to provide interesting information about horse-racing and Jägersro here so keep on reading!   The main attraction is our fantastic tip-sheet. So far only in Swedish. But if any of our foreign friends are planning a visit to Sweden we will be happy to provide you with some inside info!

Jockeys' Guild Online    The years leading up to the formation of an organization to speak for jockeys were filled with frustration and pain. There was widespread misuse of power over the jockeys and very few horsemen were sympathetic to the needs of the riders. In the late 1930's several jockeys held secretive meetings to discuss the idea of raising funds to assist injured and disabled riders, and the families of jockeys fatally injured on the racetrack. Some riders were blacklisted and punished when suspected of attending the secret meetings. In December, 1939, jockey Tommy Luther was accused of "trying to start a union" and was banned from the 1939-40 winter meet at Santa Anita Park. The actual formation of The Jockey Community Fund and Guild was precipitated by the racing injury of Sammy Renick on the east coast. When Eddie Arcaro visited Renick, who was laid up in the hospital with a broken leg, their discussions led to the formation of the organization that would represent the concerns of jockeys. Renick, along with Arcaro and John Longden, are recognized as the founding fathers of The Jockeys' Guild.

Just Racing     Trading Net Australia - a Brisbane, Queensland based business, is proud to be involved in the promotion of the Queensland Racing Industry, and sincerely thanks all participants who have a vision of the future, in seeing Internet advertising as an invaluable, promotional tool for themselves or their business. The site you are entering is representative of Trading Net Australia's professionalism in placing small and large business and industry - and now the Queensland Racing Industry - on the Internet, exposing them to a world-wide audience. It is without question, that the latter years of the twentieth century and the early years of the twenty-first century, will see Racing beamed into homes via our televisions with Metropolitan Night Racing gaining acceptance and recognition. It is of paramount importance therefore, that the Industry is geared to embrace the enormous benefits that go with such revolutionary advancement. The Racing Industry, encompassing the three codes of Thoroughbreds, Harness Racing and Greyhounds, represents the fourth largest employer in Australia, and thus is of enormous national significance to the current economic status of the Country.  Through the myriad of facets which combine to form the Racing Industry, $$$billions are invested and speculated annually. As with any entity involving gambling, Luck and Chance are major players. The Australian population love to gamble, but the ever increasing competition for the gambling dollar means that the Racing Industry needs to be more dynamic and effective than ever in its marketing strategies, to increase or at least maintain its share of the gambling dollar. The somewhat apathy of Racing officialdom in the last 15 years in marketing its product effectively, has led to falling Racetrack attendance, and allowed young people to seek out other forms of entertainment which have been strategically targeted towards them as "action packed" and exciting. What could be more "action packed" and exciting than Racing? Please continue on and view what is fervently believed to be the most professional and comprehensive Racing Internet site in Australia today.

Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation     The promise of a lifetime  Founded in 1982, the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) was the pioneering forerunner for similar operations and remains the largest humane organization dedicated to the rescue of racehorses when they can no longer run.  For 16 years, the national, nonprofit TRF has been providing lifetime haven to equine athletes of all ages, including those unsuitable for riding because of racing injuries. For many of our pensioners, the TRF truly has been the difference between life and death.  Renewed hope for horses and their caregivers  No other equine rescue organization provides the same breadth of retirement options for racehorses in jeopardy at the close of their track careers, or the same opportunities for their caregivers Our principal retirement facilities are located at state correctional facilities.   There, the TRF's innovative, state-accredited courses in horsecare and management give the inmates and juvenile offenders who are the horses' caregivers far more than needed vocational skills. Caring for the horses has proven to have emotional and therapeutic benefits as well, and both horses and their caregivers are thriving under the arrangement.
