Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie Texas Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie project: Located midway between Dallas and Fort Worth on approximately 315 acres on Belt Line Road just north of Interstate-30, the $96 million project encompasses a seven-story, approximately 280,000-square foot Grandstand, a 36,000-square foot simulcast facility, a Saddling Paddock/Jockey Quarters, Barn Area, Track Surfaces, Parking Area and other amenities catered to family fun entertainment. Texas' newest Class I racetrack is owned by the Grand Prairie Sports Facility Development Corporation. Grandstand Facility: The Grandstand is glass-enclosed, air-conditioned, approximately 280,000-square foot structure with a seating capacity of approximately 8,000 seats. Additional seating is available throughout the park. A variety of levels in the Grandstand include the Track level, Clubhouse levels (levels two and four), and two levels of Suites. The fourth-floor Clubhouse level features 1,000 seats for terraced dining, a Jockey Club and a Paddock Lounge for 125 people overlooking the saddling paddock area. Two additional levels of the Grandstand provide space for administrative offices and press box facilities, respectively. The Grandstand also includes themed concession areas, bars, racing information areas, a first aid facility and gift shops. The audio/video system features over 600 television monitors and a giant screen Sony Jumbotron in the infield. In addition to the Grandstand, there will be outdoor areas from which patrons can watch the races, including outdoor reserved box seating and unreserved bench seating on the apron between the Grandstand and the racetrack Post Time Pavilion: Located adjacent to the Grandstand and currently in operation is Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie's 36,000-square foot simulcast facility, the Post Time Pavilion. This modern, state-of-the-art building is highlighted by a Las Vegas-style racebook, a sports bar and a casual dining area, featuring live horse racing via simulcast from top tracks across the country. Saddling Paddock/Jockey Quarters: Behind the Grandstand is a beautifully landscaped European-style saddling paddock area where patrons can observe the pre-race pageantry involved in saddling the horses. The Saddling Paddock building also includes dressing quarters for male and female jockeys. Barn Area: The barn area consists of 26 barns with accommodations for up to 1,250 horses. It also includes a receiving building, hold & test barn, stakes barn, maintenance barn and administrative building Track: The racing surfaces consists of a one-mile dirt track and a 7/8-mile oval turf track with a nine-furlong infield chute. The dirt track includes a 550-yard Quarter Horse chute as well as a backstretch chute to be used for seven-furlong races. The racetrack also uses lighting for twilight and evening racing. .Parking Area: A total of approximately 6,000 paved parking spaces are available for automobiles and buses at the racetrack Race Dates: Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie is scheduled to host a 73-day Thoroughbred meeting from April 9-July 19. The Fall Meeting of Champions, a 34-day season featuring Quarter Horse racing, is currently scheduled for October 2-November 29. Thoroughbred meet July - October. Squaw Creek Downs Texas Squaw Creek Downs (SCD) is fighting to be the newest Class 2 horse racing facility in Texas. We are located in Willow Park approximately 10 miles west of Fort Worth. Our facility was once known as Trinity Meadows Raceway, which possesses the 8th largest opening of any horse racetrack in the Nation. Currently, SCD is under review by the Texas Racing Commission and will be participating in an Administrative Hearing, which has now been moved to November 2, 1998 in Austin to discuss their license. At that time, the Administrative Law Judge will render her recommendation to the Texas Racing Commission who will then accept or reject Squaw Creek Downs' license application. There has been significant support by horsemen all over the country that need and want this facility to open. An unbiased survey has been conducted by Opinions Unlimited that states in graphic detail that an overwhelming 74% of Texas horsemen support our facility. A copy of this report is available for you at our What's New page. What We Offer Squaw Creek Downs offers a wide variety of equine related events and activities. The East Parker County Chamber of Commerce Annual Equine Rally is held each year at SCD's Steak House. SCD provides horsemen and horsewomen with one of the top training facilities in the country and we have plans to open the top Class 2 track in Texas (upon Commission approval). Squaw Creek Steak House opened in July with stunning success. We offer a variety of steaks, chicken, and shrimp cooked and grilled over hickory wood. "It's the wood that makes it good." You are welcome to make reservations or simply come on in and enjoy. We have live entertainment at the club and enough televisions to have a good view of the game anywhere you sit. Squaw Creek Sales Co. is in its development and will be providing quality sales of yearlings, broodmares, and horses of racing age. Please look to us in the near future for your horse sale needs. SCD will be hosting a variety of events throughout the year.
